Dead at 27....and a couple extras
These paintings are part of a small series called "Dead at 27". This project started with the idea that I should try to do something different--a non-abstract piece.
Once I started in this style, I did a few more. The others don't necessarily fit the "Dead at 27" series, but they have similar styles.
The following paintings are a bit older but I never showed them. They are a continuation of the Buddy Holly painting that I did for the La Mirada Performing Arts Center. I guess I just got caught up with his image and wanted to continue, regardless of whether or not it would be displayed there.Thursday, July 15, 2010
"Secret" Revealed
For our wedding, Darren and I decided to create small paintings for each of our guests.

We had this sort of LoveBirds/Nature theme going on, which included all types of birds and trees, and even a ladybug.
We wanted to make sure they weren't all the same, but were similar.
We didn't want them to all be too cute either, so our male guests could also enjoy them.
We were pleased that we were able to collaborate so well together.
Here is a close up of two of the small canvases.
You can tell where his background in design comes in.
It was both tedious and enjoyable. I was pleased that Darren came up to the paint room to get messy with me and enjoyed the experience as well.

"Secret" Project
I have recently started a "secret" project. It involves my fiance and a lot of time and patience. Hopefully, it will work out the way we imagine it in our minds. I will post pictures later, once the project is complete.

Buddy Holly Show--Press Night
On Saturday, I attended press night of the Buddy Holly show at the La Mirada Performing Arts Center to help promote the selling of the painting that I had on display.
The display in the theater was great. The painting definitely stood out on that wall! I was also able to see the show and attend the after party--both were great fun. The next evening, I was informed that the painting sold for cash, just like that! What a great experience. I hope to display more art there in the future.... until they get tired of promoting the same artist anyway.

Future Mother-in-Law Sends a Request
My fiance's mother asked me to paint something for her birthday this month. She has requested a sunset and has shown me examples of things she likes. Sunsets are difficult to me, in that, they can be very dull if not done well. Landscapes in general are boring if not done in an interesting way. It will be a challenge to make a sunset interesting enough to decorate her living room wall. I, however, am up for the task and gladly take the request with the promise of completing it by her birthday, April 24th.
